Our Story

Mee.mi is named after our tiny pupperonies- Meethi and Mirchi who've made us better people in life.

Mee.Mi is a design practice founded by Himanshi and Mahima, named after our puppies, Meethi and Mirchi. Based in the Himalayan foothills of Dharamsala, Himachal Pradesh, Mee.Mi works with discarded textile materials to create utilitarian, wearable art. Our practice is rooted in a deep curiosity around textile waste and the growing environmental impact of the fashion industry.

We began by observing the vast amounts of fabric waste generated by local tailors, materials that are often burned or discarded. Polyester and its derivatives pose a particular challenge, and we work to keep these fabrics out of landfills by giving them thoughtful new lives. We source both pre and post-consumer textile waste directly from local tailors, offering them monetary support while diverting waste.

Once collected, fabrics are carefully segregated by size, material, weight, and color. Smaller unusable scraps are used as filling for toys, while larger pieces are transformed through patching, panelling, crocheting, and embroidery to create garments and accessories designed to last.

Mee.Mi creates timeless, zero-waste clothing from repurposed and antique Indian textiles, made to be worn by people of all genders and across seasons. Our designs are not driven by transient trends. Each one-of-a-kind piece has already stood the test of time before becoming something new.

By pairing high-impact colors and rich patterns with low-impact production, Mee.Mi looks toward a more earth-friendly future for fashion. We believe longevity comes from quality and emotional attachment. Sustainability, for us, also means being mindful of the afterlife of everything we create.

Each Mee.Mi piece is either commissioned, limited edition, or entirely bespoke. We make clothing, accessories, and toys, all produced in small runs with meticulous care, where no two pieces are ever the same.
